Guitar Melody Play-Along — Chord Accompaniment

These exercises are designed for guitar accompaniment: the melody plays while you supply the chords. You are not expected to read notes or perform the tune as a solo guitarist. Follow the current and next chord diagrams, listen to the melody and keep the changes in time.

How to practise

  1. Listen once to the tune and notice where the chord changes happen.
  2. Play the suggested chords while the melody sounds, using the on-screen diagrams.
  3. Repeat the same tune until your changes feel natural, then try another familiar melody or a longer progression.

Practise at your own pace

Play chords with the music, not the melody as a solo.

Replay as often as you need. You can mark exercises as practiced in the main library and save your progress locally in your browser. Every level stays open, even if you have never used the site before.

What to try next: If the accompaniment feels difficult, practise the chord pair by itself before returning to the melody.
